one more thing...

so, you know i sign everything "oxoxo" or at least "xo"...well, in the uk they don't do hugs! isn't that crazy??? just "xx"!!

kel, sam and dipak asked me "why do you keep putting o's on the end of your e-mails?" i was shocked, but will now try and revolutionise the way brits sign cards, e-mails and text messages.

hugs and kisses please.

oxoxo
xoxox (that one's for you dad ;)

...on an end note, i'm really happy. probably genuinely happier than i've been in at least a year if not a bit longer. as i was saying to david the other night, lauren's core has been restored.

i can't wait to see you all in june. happy christmas and new year. and if you do want to call to wish me a happy new year, you'll have to call my mobile, but i will be home on christmas day.

loads of transatlantic hugs and kisses.

it's beginning to feel a little more like christmas

but it certainly doesn't look like it! i'm incredibly jealous of the mass amounts of snow that mtl and the t-dot have received. a snowy christmas for you indeed...

in the british sense of the word, all things christmas are happening. the big chritsmas eve night out is on the menu, plans are rolling along for our week at the cottage for new year's, and i'm getting pumped for my very first christmas number one.

it does exist! for some reason i thought christmas number one was a myth perpetuated by such films as love actually, but top of the pops is real. every sunday they count down the hits and next sunday they choose the ever famous christmas number one. i just pray it isn't westlife.

there are loads of presents under the tree (well, not loads, but enough) and the ol' crimbo word is popping up everywhere.

beautiful day

its absolutely gorgeous out today and i've chosen the perfect compilation CD for the occassion. it's incredibly windy, but it's nice to have my hair blown around and walking into anywhere calm with it looking absolutely ravaged.

i bought a digital camera on-line today (christmas present from some of the family) and will be using it to document absolutely everything. from christmas, to the new year's festivities at the cottage, and everyday life in the pool. so keep an eye out for photos that i will hopefully be able to upload once i get myself sorted with broadband at home. in the meantime, i'm sure i'll be able to scrounge.

i'm feeling a good weekend coming on, but not one that's too rock and roll.

btw - we've officially bought our tickets for canada and the completed travelling crew will be sam, kelly, dipak and myself. so get ready! book us in your diaries at some point between june 16 and 30, 2006.

boo.

well, didn't get that job. it sucks, but there's unfortunately not much more to say! i'm going to meet up with the senior learning officer next week so i can get some feedback, but i already know where i went wrong:

1) was really nervous about the presentation once i got there as the power point was all set up and i don't do power point. it's just a visual distraction to make you look good and give an audience with ADD something to occupy their eyes with. for a presentation to 3 people? but in any case, it made me nervous cause i didn't have one.

2) as usual, i came away thinking of all the things i *should* have said and didn't. all the great events i have planned, but didn't think to mention.

3) somehow forgot that i haven't known these people for long and they don't know what i'm capable of. i was too used to just being handed better jobs and great work in montreal because i was simply known. i don't have a reputation in liverpool for anything other than being canadian.

so that's it in a nutshell. i'll get over it, but nobody likes to fail.

good weekend

twas a good one.

dipak and davoud were up from coventry and we had one big night out on friday. sofian, harriet, chris, kelly, dipak, davoud, jo, anna, franco, jo's coursemates...they were all there! the new dj at 3345 is reminiscent of luba lounge days in mtl *sigh*

saturday we all sat off recovering in the pilgrim pub watching the footie before going to tabac for some coffee. i had a nap on kelly's lounge chair as i just couldn't make it through the rest of the day. saturday night we went to this fabulous chinese restaurant called mei mei, which had the best all time service of any place any where. they had christmas crackers on the table, but i could only convince lou and davoud to wear their crowns.

sunday i was productive with grocery shopping, chores, and my presentation for the interview tomorrow morning. sam and i had a proper sunday dinner with veggie sausages, green beans, carrots, sweet potatoes and yorkshire pudding.

it's feeling more christmasy at our house now as there are lights on the tree, presents underneath it and a load of christmas cards on the wall.

hopefully i'll have good news to report tomorrow...

time to cross those fingers again

well, i have a job interview on tuesday for the public programmes officer, which i'm really excited about. part of the process is preparing a presentation - don't know what that entails yet - but hopefully all will go well and it could be a nice little christmas present to myself.

i'm off to london tomorrow for a day long conference, which actually has to do with this new post. (brownie points for me.) it's all about working with artists in galleries so should be quite interesting. although getting up at 5:30 am to catch the 7:08 am train isn't the most appealing idea...

sam, kelly and i went for a few jars at penny lane last night and snagged the table next to the open fire. it was nice to feel so warm after such a frosty day.

sounds like everyone is going to be out and about on friday so it should be a big night. after a few quiet weekends i think i deserve it.

12.05.2005

at last

i'm finally back in the land of technology. after almost a month without my laptop thanks to various technical gremlins inhabiting my bedroom, i've been able to get all the appropriate cords, plug in my laptop and have it *work.* this means i can get back to the joys of music compilations, writing and applications. yeehaw.

it was a pretty quiet weekend, dinners, going into town, teas, knitting, crimbo (slang for christmas) cards, and reading. sam and i are saving up for this friday, which promises to be a big night out.

saturday night i made some transatlantic phone calls with my newly acquired phone card, which was good fun.

linda - please send me the details for that cheap phone rate from canada to the uk. i wanna distribute it to the folks and friends. xo

job-appy-happy

i'm about to get into the realm of job applications again. it's not that i'm aching to move on from here, but i'm just having a little trouble staying motivated and enthused about things. as much as i love taking minutes...

so i'm going to be applying for two things: one internal position as the public programmes officer for the art galleries doing event related things for the community, and two a position as the trusts and foundations office at the tate in liverpool. needless to say i have a much better chance at the first one as the tate job will attract national attention, but i'm going for it anyway.

its started raining and i'm feeling the chill seeping through the enormous window behind me. im telling you, the sunshine on my back feels so much nicer.
